anxiety
An executive is seated at a conference table waiting for all attendees to arrive for an important meeting. She feels tension and anxiety and chooses this moment to be Mindful. First she takes a breath somewhat deeper than usual while looking around the room noticing the forms and colors and sounds of chairs being moved about. She chooses to dwell for a moment on the compassion of Christ – a concept she has studied and adores. She initiates her prayer :
“Thank you God for this moment, help me to experience You in it.”
She is then silent, allowing the Holy Spirit to answer, bringing her a measure of joy and peace and compassion. Ten seconds passed while she participates in this process of Mindfulness. She proceeds to participate in the meeting with clarity and inner strength – and compassion.
